Our design services include
-
Structural Engineering for Mining Infrastructure
We design robust structural systems for critical mining infrastructure, including:-
Crushing and screening plants
-
ROM bins, and hoppers
-
Conveyor gantries, trestles, and transfer towers
-
Processing plant structures
-
Workshops, warehouses, carports and walkways and maintenance facilities such as washbays
-
Explosives and fuel storage facilities
-
Shaft headgear and support structures
-
Bridges and Major culverts within the mine or mining route
-
Concrete Silos
-

All designs are developed with careful consideration of dynamic loads, vibration, equipment mounting, and safety compliance.

-
Foundation Design for Heavy Plant & Machinery
Mining infrastructure demands high-capacity, vibration-resistant foundations. We design:
-
Reinforced raft slabs
-
Piled foundations
-
Machine bases with vibration isolation
-
Concrete plinths and pads for conveyors, crushers, and mills
Our solutions are tailored to accommodate static and dynamic loads, soil variability, and construction access constraints.

-
Geotechnical Coordination & Site-Specific Design
We work closely with geotechnical consultants to interpret soil and rock data, slope stability, groundwater, and subsidence risks. These insights guide our structural and civil designs to ensure resilience against settlement, erosion, or movement — critical in mine sites with complex ground conditions.

-
Civil Infrastructure & Earthworks Design
We deliver civil engineering solutions for both greenfield and brownfield mining sites, including:
-
Bulk earthworks and platform grading
-
Stormwater drainage and erosion control
-
Concrete hardstands, wash bays, and laydown areas
All designs are developed to withstand high-traffic, heavy vehicle loading, and long-term exposure.

-
Structural Design & Detailing
We provide complete structural design solutions for industrial facilities, including structural steel frames, portal frames, concrete retaining structures, mezzanine floors, and high-load suspended slabs. Our focus is on practicality, performance, and cost efficiency — all while meeting national codes and client-specific standards.

-
Civil Infrastructure & Bulk Services Design
Our civil engineering services cover bulk earthworks, site grading and stormwater management systems.

-
Regulatory Compliance & Municipal Approvals
We handle all necessary engineering documentation and submissions for local authority approval, including stormwater plans, structural documentation, and SANS/NBR compliance. Our understanding of zoning and land-use regulations ensures smooth navigation through municipal requirements.

-
Site Inspections & Compliance Sign-Offs
We provide engineering oversight during construction, including inspections at critical stages, quality assurance checks, and compliance reporting. Upon completion, we issue structural and civil sign-offs, completion certificates, and any documentation required by authorities or financiers.
Dynamic & Seismic Design and Analysis
Industrial structures are often subject to dynamic forces — whether from mechanical equipment, crane loads, vehicular movement, or environmental conditions such as wind or seismic activity. Our engineering team incorporates dynamic and seismic analysis to ensure your facility performs safely under these conditions.

-
Dynamic Load Analysis
We assess and design for operational loads caused by vibrating equipment, heavy vehicle movement, overhead cranes, or impact forces. Our designs mitigate resonance, fatigue, and structural deterioration over time, helping protect both the structure and the equipment it houses.

-
Seismic Design (Where Applicable)
For facilities in seismic-prone regions or requiring international certification, we conduct full seismic analysis in accordance with local or international seismic codes (e.g. Eurocode, ASCE, SANS). We design lateral load-resisting systems, bracing, and joint detailing to ensure stability and life safety during seismic events.

-
Vibration Isolation & Control
Where required, we design structural systems with vibration isolation pads, dampers, or decoupled foundation systems to protect sensitive processes or prevent vibration transmission between structural elements.

SIMM & Condition Reports
-
Blasting Condition Surveys
For industrial projects near existing buildings, services, or infrastructure, we carry out pre-blasting condition surveys to document the state of neighbouring assets. These reports reduce liability and provide a clear reference point should damage claims arise during or after construction or blasting activities.

-
Scanning of as built plant structures and converting to 3D models.

-
Structural Inspection and Maintenance Management (SIMM) according to mine specifications.
-
Best practice precautionary measure in the early identification and rectification of structural deterioration.
-
Primarily visual inspections.
-
Following each inspection, the condition of the structures is reported and recorded with photographic evidence.
-
A full report covering all structures is provided by the Structural Engineer doing the inspection,
-
Separate report to identify all safety critical findings (i.e. all structural aspects considered to compromise safety in any way) in the plant.
-
Safety critical findings are adequately addressed as soon as possible.
-
Guidance is provided regarding what maintenance work may safely be planned and carried out by mine personnel and what work requires formal design and approval by a Structural Engineer.
-
Further formal design and remedial actions and reporting as required.
-
Structural analysis and design reviews of existing buildings
-
Seismic and Dynamic analysis as required following SIMM reporting.
